Revising and rethinking

May 6, 2010

After abruptly halting my train of thought (wrench in the spokes) and skittishly scrambling for the remains of my thesis plans, it turns out all is not lost.

The reworked project will focus on community gardens as a non-retail strategy for improving urban food security and for contesting socioeconomic marginalization in the context of neoliberal constraints. I think this will be a much richer and more interesting project, which is (surprisingly) much less researched within the field of human geography.

And with stories like this continuing to appear, it is perhaps particularly relevant to the Midwest, former industrial manufacturing region.

More to come.
